In the clouds is a house show venue in Grand Haven Michigan run by Jessica Fogle and Bryan Ralph. Low-key diy lofi all heart, sometimes with cookies, always with a green room for artists. It is a labor of love, for touring bands to have a place to stay. It is a celebration of community and friendship, especially for awkward introverts who still like coming together, sharing music, and sometimes potting plants together or coloring. It's pretty strange, but also just your everyday hangout with friends. See you at a show sometime, West Michigan. And to those faraway, we hope this gives you a little taste of what we're all about - hopefully you will feel like you've been to a show In the clouds.

A NOTE FROM THE CLOUDS:

This compilation - In the clouds vol. 1 - is a work of great love, just like our shows.

There are so many gems of songs here - from Michigan, Chicago, NYC, Philly, Nashville, Kentucky, Indiana, Italy - we are absolutely in love. I recommend listening either all at once, or in 3 sittings...Part 1 (track 1-9), Part 2 (track 10-20), and Part 3 (track 21-32). It's great background music, dancing music, or deep meditative listening music while laying in bed (it's what I did last night :)

We wanted to make a comp ever since ending 'season 1' of shows (which was May 2017-August 2019...couldn't stop :)

The season 2 kick-off was supposed to be THIS month, May 16-17th (a two day mini-fest), but of course we are postponing shows for now.

The initial intent of the compilation was to raise $$ for touring artists, as we operate on a pay-what-you-can donation model, and some bands tour to us from the east or west coast and wanted to be sure their expenses were always covered. But with everything going on in the world, we shifted gears to raise money instead for one of our great inspirations: The DAAC.

If you don’t know The DAAC, it’s one of the best DIY indie music venues, in Grand Rapids, Michigan - with a rich history of supporting independent musicians of all types (and very friendly to touring artists as well!) They recently purchased a building in the Creston neighborhood of Grand Rapids, MI and their plans for development and hosting shows will obviously be delayed (and some friends of ours are the ones volunteering their time and MONEY to shepherd in this new DAAC space, in conjunction with the beloved and soon-to-reopen Gaia Cafe).

So we are uplifting them with our In the clouds community, and hopefully creating some great In the clouds vibes and memories online with all of you, during this time without shows.
